Yo Yo Writer’s Diet
I had lunch today with some fellow writers (Tina Gerow and Jordan Summers) and of course the topic of conversation was writing. We talked about how we were reaching our goals, how we motivated our selves, how we liked to write and our styles. I realized that I’m a yo yo writer. What I mean, is that I still go from plotting to seat of the pantser. I still haven’t figured out my style yet. I feel like a yo yo and now understand what that term means. I’m so grateful for all that I’ve learned but now am confused by it all. In learning who I am as a writer I realize that I need to just keep going and know that I’ll get there. Some day I will stop yo yo’ing and find my comfortable place as a writer. I just wanted to let you know that you’re not alone and don’t give up. Keep going and we’ll share our comfort place with each other when we get there. Okay, don’t share too much as I may need an ice pick to get it out of my brain. It’s a long wonderful, hard, terrifying journey, but at the end of the yellow brick road it will be amazing. Isabella

LOL — I’m not so sure I’ll ever get out of the yo-yo syndrom…I’ve been trying to get out it for my eating habits and my exercise habits for years!
Still yo-yoing!

You’re right where you need to be Isabella! I know the more I learn and the more I write, the more I realize that I DON’T know! LOL… Sounds like life in general doesn’t it? I remember when I was a newbie writer and knew nothing and thought I could sit down and write a book in a few weeks and publish it in a few months and wonderful fully formed stories would just flow out of my fingers and onto the page! Ahhh, I wish for that ignorance is bliss state again!!

Love your post. I’m just like you, sometimes I plot and sometimes I’m a panster. Hey, I’m a yo yo girl!
