What Authors should know about Publishing

Last night’s speaker at VOS - Jerry Simmons was great.  He spoke about the business aspects of publishing that Authors should know.  He also quoted Nicholas Sparks and his blog about the same subject.  http://www.nicholassparks.com/WritersCorner/Business.html  It hit home for me that although I’m putting thoughts out to the Universe about contests, book goals, etc.; I haven’t put enough thoughts out there about once I’m doing well, what other things do I want to happen.  So I wrote up a few thoughts or affirmations for the Universe regarding the next step after being published.  Here they are:

* I will have the right advertising, promotions and publicity surrounding my books.

* What’s happening in the market place and what I’m putting in my books will relate well together (this is so I can make connections with the readers).

* I will not be taken advantage of by a publisher, agent or editor.  I will be savvy enough to protect my rights.

* I will be profilic and my reader base will continue to grow and grow.

This is a small example of the wonderful messages I heard last night.  Now it’s your turn to come up with some amazing thoughts to send out to the Universe!!!!   Isabella

I like this… you’re right, too often, at least myself for sure, we don’t think beyond that first step of getting published! :)
