The death of a computer

Why do I become so attached…and trusting? This one had my fairytale for RT, I hadn’t backed up and I know better. I guess I suspected it would let me know it wasn’t well, but it didn’t. Now the hard drive is off being searched. I’m not hopeful.

Cherie J, you are the winner!

Now two days later…and no answer yet if any was salvaged.

Yikes Judi!! Hang in there girl! I feel your pain. I lost two week’s worth of writing on Visions of Seduction pretty near my deadline and killed myself rewriting. How close are you to deadline? Mine is due the end of January.

  4. Cherie J Says:

So sorry to hear that. That happened to me once and I remember how down I feel. Keeping my fingers crossed that it will all work out.

  5. Brit Says:

It was only two pages of the fairytale, but not only is it a free read for RT, Joy Nash is pitching it to Dorchester. And while I’ve already caught up in actual words, the second draft isn’t nearly as funny as the first. And I can’t remember what I said to make it funny. And right now I don’t feel very funny.

I’m so sorry to hear that. I hope the muse will strike you again.

  7. Mimi Says:

Oy. I feel your pain, dear, but I’m thinking real, real positive thoughts that everything is going to work out fine. Hang in there! (((Big Hugs)))

That is the thing about computers. They die when you least expect it. Sometimes you can retrieve info when the hard drive is made into a secondary drive on a new computer and/or hard drive. Good luck. :-)

  9. Laura Says:

I know how it is to be so attached to your computer. My old faithful Gateway crashed and it was like Humpty Dumpty- no one could revive it. We had to slag its memory just to get it to turn back on! I’m sending out positive vibes for you as I write this. Maybe the people you took it to can revive it.

((Brit)) I have my fingers crossed for you. I’ve had something happen to me like that… only it was pictures I lost.

  11. Kara Says:

I know the pain - my died a couple of weeks ago - lost a few items too - but I can’t imagine what it would be to lose your writing. Here is keeping my fingers crossed for you!!

  12. Cherie J Says:

Thank you! I am sorry to hear you have not received any good news yet.

  13. Brit Says:

Thanks to all for the wonderful support.

The hard drive can be salvaged…the motherboard is defective. Now I have to buy another tower, but at least I don’t lose all my work.
