Cowboy Domination!

Today’s my blog day and I didn’t have a clue what to say until I read Samantha’s post.  So I decided to post a little from the first chapter of a piece I just finished and am now editing with the help of the butterscotch martini girls…
This piece is going to Triskelion, since they wanted me to do a cowboy shape shifter.  I struggled with it as a long manuscript, but as a short story, it flew out my computer.

                                                         Chapter One

Manacles?  Rachel stared in disbelief at the leather and metal shackles attached to a steel frame.  The dim light coming from the doorway made her squint for a better look.  Did she dare turn on a light?

“Do you see anything interesting?”  Ray Wilde stood in the doorway, which led into the stock compartment of the fifth-wheel horse-trailer.

Rachel tensed.  She had no business in his tack room, especially no business seeing this contraption.  “I heard you like to control your women, but isn’t this excessive?”

She considered leaving and tamped down the urge to walk away without getting what she needed from him.  Maybe the cost for learning the truth would be more than she could physically or emotionally pay.  However, this might be her only chance to unearth answers about her missing sister from one of the two known sources.

“I can honestly say I’ve never had any complaints.”  He reached to the wall to touch the leather binding.

Rachel and her best friend, Pam, had plied him with alcohol all night in the hopes he’d invite Rachel to his trailer for some alone time.  Did she have the guts to see it through even if it meant sex?  Or had she just wanted an excuse to sleep with him?  She’d wanted him long before she discovered the truth about him and his complicity in Sarah’s disappearance.

“Why so quiet?  You want something from me…I know that much.  You and your friend weren’t exactly subtle.”  He leaned in nearer to her, but held back like a man who didn’t like to get too close to anyone.  Dark angles, dark hair and firm muscles invaded her space.  At least in the dim light of the trailer, his eyes weren’t the pale, almost colorless hazel that mesmerized her earlier in the bar.  The man turned heads, whether on the back of a rank bull or walking by his lonesome through a crowded room.  He wasn’t the handsomest man in the world, but he gave that distinct impression, and then some.

“Maybe I just want your bod.  It’s all about meeting someone new for me, the initial attraction.  I’m like a junkie and crave the delicious spark of getting together with someone I’ve never been with.  It makes for unforgettable sex.”  In this case, she could almost believe her ridiculous statement.  He was tall for a bull-rider, well over six feet and on the lean and lanky side.  The fact he went eight seconds more often than not, attested to his strength.

“That must make it hell on your boyfriends.”

“Having a boyfriend would be counter-productive. I only get the rush, the heart-pounding, palms-sweating, warm-all-over feeling when I’m with someone I’ve never been with before.”  Rachel told a half-truth.  She had all of that and more for bull-rider, Ray Wilde.  However, as a rule, she didn’t do one-night-stands.  Until tonight, that is.

Ray picked up the leather manacle dangling from a heavy chain.  “And you’re interest in becoming my love-slave for the night.”

Rachel could tell by the sarcasm in his voice, he didn’t believe her.  Did she have the courage to agree?   She held an arm toward him.  Hell, yes!

He sucked for air as if she’d punched him.  “Before you go too far, take a closer look around.  These walls are steel reinforced too.  What if I chained you and didn’t let you go?”

He flipped a switch on the ceiling. The small light receptacle didn’t offer much illumination, but enough.  Not only were the walls made of steel, there were a second set of manacles on the floor for her ankles.  He’d told the truth.  Once he put them on her, she’d never get out of them on her own.   She dropped her arm.

Ray chuckled and gave her backbone a nudge.  Rachel raised her hand a second time.

“I may’ve had too much to drink.  I think I’m hallucinating.  I didn’t figure you for the kind of woman who’d summit so easily.”

“Trust me, I’m not.”

“All the better,” he said.

Why did those words and the inflection in his voice worry her so much?

Ray reached up to flip the light off.  Only the light from the door leading into the tiny bathroom kept them from complete darkness.  The living-quarters in Ray’s horse-trailer would be far more comfortable than the tack room, but she’d already seen it and it was nothing like this. If Ray was into bondage and domination, Rachel needed to know how far he’d take the game.  Could that have been what happened to her sister?

“What if I scream?  Could someone hear me?”

He paused to give her a dark look.  “If they were close enough to the trailer…maybe.  Are you afraid I’ll hurt you?”

“I thought dom’s get off making their submissives fear them?”

“So you’re saying you want me to scare you?  Lady, be careful for what you wish.  This time, you just might get it, in spades.”  He took her hand in his.  The thick calluses on his palms gave her goosebumps.  He had strong hands, the kind she liked on a man…the kind she liked touching her naked body.

Instead of binding her right away, he ran his other hand up her other arm and stopped to circle her neck.  “Are you sure you want this?”

With his thumb at the front of her throat, he more than likely knew she’d gulped at his question.  “Yes, I want it.”

When he brought his other hand up to her throat, she nearly pulled away.  Then he began to undo her scarf.  Strange place to start undressing her.

“I’m using this to blindfold you.”  He removed her scarf and tied it around her head to cover her eyes.

Fantasy Quest by Tina Gerow

Astiria Petrey needs a vacation and when the opportunity for a free one pops up, she takes advantage of the opportunity.  Fantasy Quest is a beautiful Caribbean resort where the oddest things keep on happening such as room service arriving with exactly what it is she wants to eat without her ever ordering it.  It’s enough to make a girl wonder if she’s losing her mind.  As a self-proclaimed computer geek, she’s more than happy to play video games while a storm brews outside.

Lord Lerik is a strong and powerful master warrior that lives in Verrath, an alternate universe to Earth.  He’s been waiting for the mate that the Seer foretold would arrive when the time was right.

Tina Gerow is an absolutely delightful author.  If you’ve read either book in her Maiden series, you’re in for an immediate chuckle as soon as you start Fantasy Quest.  I was completely captivated by the characters in Fantasy Quest and amazed by Ms. Gerow’s creativity.  Astiria’s insecurities and Lerik’s ability to alleviate them brought balance to their relationship.

Guarding the Hellion by Linda Wisdom

Brad Hayes is hired by Shar, the Lord of the Underworld to keep an eye on his baby sister, Raven.  Raven is not to know he’s there to protect her while she’s on vacation.

Raven convinces her half-brother, Shar, to let her go on vacation.  Shar doesn’t know that her main purpose is to spend the time trying to come up with a way to have to return Below.

Guarding the Hellion is a lighthearted romp with several serious moments.  It’s a nice balance and both Brad and Raven are likeable characters.  Their private thoughts and interactions were entertaining.  Their chemistry was hot and exciting.  I enjoyed reading Guarding the Hellion.

Mac To the Future by Dakota Cassidy

Jaynie Renfro is the Editor-In-Chief of That’s Amore’, a magazine owned by her mother.  She hosts the annual cover model contests yet is not impressed by man-girl vying for the coveted role.

Cormac of Anglesey, or Mac, is from the year 1450 and is on a quest to find his magic sword.

Mac To the Future is fantastic.  Jaynie’s interaction with the cover models was hilarious and her inner ramblings pure entertainment.  Mac is truly a sexy man with a rapier wit and his bantering with his sword is absolutely delightful.  Dakota Cassidy really “owned” these characters and made sure that they lived up to their potential.  I wish this had been a full-length story, as I didn’t want it to end!

Time Thieves by Brit Blaise

Colonel Daken Parker is a Borka, and head of Shadow Team Ten.  He’s been sent with his team to catch Korin, individuals that wreak havoc throughout time and space.  When a security guard attempts to stop his team, they try to erase her memory and when they fail, are forced to take her with them.

When Jenny Bender came upon five men breaking into a storage unit, she didn’t know it would save her life by altering the future.  When one series of events leads to another, she offers her assistance and her loyalty to these men and their quest to save the future.

Brit Blaise is a master storyteller.  The characters in Time Thieves jump off the pages and the storyline is both action packed and exciting.  The love scenes are so hot you’ll be challenged to catch your breath.  I hope that this is the beginning of a wonderful new series because I would love to hear Peck’s tale.  Or Lawzard’s.  Or….

A new review…

Four Fallen Angels from Fallen Angel Reviews

Knights of the Magical Realm: Warriors Gone Wild
In Knights of the Magical Realm: Warriors Gone Wild be prepared for action, adventure, lots of laughter, and plenty of heat.

Tina Gerow starts off the anthology with Fantasy Quest.

Astiria Petrey is on vacation at Fantasy Quest; however, the beauty of the beaches and sunsets seem lacking. The only man who appeals to her is within the confines of the resort’s online game. What happens when she finds herself standing next to her dream man?

Tina Gerow always delights with her ability to blend humor and romance. With unusual situations and witty dialogue, I found myself smiling throughout. The connection between Astiria and Lerik is passionate and romantic. What I especially enjoyed is how Ms. Gerow crafted an ending that captures Astiria’s personality to a “t”.

Linda Wisdom continues with her own type of warrior in Guarding the Hellion.

Brady Hayes owes a very powerful demon a favor. Fortunately, all that is asked of him is to guard said demon’s sister while she is on vacation in the human realm. Of course Brady is expecting someone hideous, not the vivacious and alluring Raven. The ideas running through his mind have nothing to do with protection.

Guarding the Hellion is a fun story. Raven is nothing like readers or Brady expects and thus begins the excitement. The instant chemistry between them delivers some wonderful scenes. Raven’s secret intent brings conflict and tests the bounds of their feelings, but also makes this a unique romance. The story flows well from start to finish with the ending being especially touching.

Mac To the Future by Dakota Cassidy is next and it continues the trend of sexy warriors.

Mac is not from our time and he is especially not your average cover model contestant. This warrior is on a mission and it does not include discovering the best hair gel and sleeping with a Prima Donna author. However, his quest is interrupted by lovely coordinator, Jaynie Renfro. Can this time traveling hero finish his mission and have the girl too?

Dakota Cassidy delivers plenty of raw wit and comical dialogue. Jaynie’s dilemma is enough to have any woman rolling their eyes and laughing at the antics of her charges. Mac is a wonderful counterpart to this often too serious woman. He brings her laughter and passion that are wonderful to experience. These two combine to create an unlikely, but well-matched couple.

Brit Blaise rounds out this anthology with her engaging story, Time Thieves.

Daken is on what should be his last mission. He and his team are supposed to stop the latest round of time thieves and return home. Only their mission hits a snag in the form of Jenny Bender. This twentieth-century cop can’t believe the bevy of sexy men before her; even more unbelievable is that she is stuck with them as they embark on a fantastic assignment. What’s a girl to do?

Time Thieves is an action packed story that brings this anthology to a wonderful close. I was impressed with the level of character development and storyline details Brit Blaise conveys in this short story. Not only are Daken and Jenny fun to get to know, but the additional characters have this reader hoping we will be seeing more of them.

Knights of the Magical Realm: Warriors Gone Wild is winning combination. The four distinct stories combine to create a composite piece of work well worth reading.

Fantasy Quest - Tina Gerow
Fantasy Quest Resort, the Caribbean and Verrath - Present Day

Astiria Petrey is on a free vacation at the Fantasy Quest Resort, the perfect place to relax, read and walk on the beach. Her sister, Amy and brother-in-law, Doug, spent their honeymoon at the resort and enjoyed it so much that they bought this trip for Astiria’s birthday. So far the resort has been spectacular, the room service team seems to be able to read her mind, and the weather has been beautiful. But when a storm rolls in, Astiria decides to try the online role-playing game that is named after the resort. With Max, her trusty stuffed gargoyle, by her side, Astiria answers the list of questions designed to enhance her game play and she chooses the handsome warrior, Lerik, as her game required consort. But when the game starts and Astiria finds herself in her elfin character’s body, complete with “stripper boobs”, and a live version of Max, in a place he says is Verrath, the game is suddenly way too real. When Lerik shows up looking like he just stepped out of her fantasies and with the kind of attitude she’s always dreamed of, Astiria has some decisions to make. Is a world of goblins, gargoyles and lords the kind of place she could live in forever? And when Lerik sees the real Astiria, flaws and all, will he even want her to stay?

After reading Fantasy Quest Resort, you’ll never look at role playing games in the same way. Viva la consort!

Guarding the Hellion - Linda Wisdom
The Underworld and a remote Pacific island - Present Day

Favors are a great thing, as long as someone owes you one. When it’s the other way around, well then they can be a real pain. Brady Hayes owes someone a favor, not just anyone, but Shar, Lord of the Underworld. Now Shar has called in his marker, and luckily it’s an easy request, as all Brady has to do is watch over Shar’s younger half-sister, Raven. She has been granted a short time above to think over her family situation and accept the place she has in Shar’s political ambitions below. When Brady meets the Malibu Barbie look-alike, he’s overwhelmed by the attraction he feels for her, then he finds out she feels the same way. Can Brady hope to have a future with the Dark Lord’s sister? Can Raven convince her brother that her place is in the mortal world with Brady? And last but not least, what happens when Raven finds out her brother sent Brady?

With the ability to make herself and Brady invisible, Raven finds some very public places to have a little fun. Now that’s a skill that could come in handy.

Mac to the Future - Dakota Cassidy
Somewhere in the United States - Present Day

Have you ever dreamed of spending some time with the handsome model from your favorite romance novel’s cover? After reading this story you may decide that isn’t such a great idea after all. Jaynie Renfro is in charge of corralling the contestants at That’s Amore’s latest cover model contest. As Editor in Chief of her mother’s magazine, Jaynie is less than thrilled to be coerced into this job as she doesn’t even enjoy romance novels. And the metrosexual man-boys in the contest are driving her insane with their demands; “Jaynie, I need hair gel.” “Jaynie, it can’t be that brand!” Sheesh, where’s a real man when you need him? There’s just one contestant Jaynie lusts after; Mac with the fake Robin Hood accent. Sure it drives the ladies wild, but really, it’s a little insane, even if it does send a pleasant tingle down Jaynie’s spine. Unbeknownst to Jaynie, Mac, or Cormac of Anglesey as he would be called in his home, is a time-traveler who battles injustice wherever he’s called. After spending a steamy night together, Mac reveals the truth to Jaynie and asks her to accompany him on his travels. What would you do? To see what Jaynie does, you’ll have to read the story.

I’m not sure that I’m adventurous enough to take up time traveling, but for a man like Mac, I’d seriously consider it.

Time Thieves - Brit Blaise
Las Vegas, Nevada - Present Day

Colonel Daken Parker is the leader of Shadow Team Ten, Borka men are from the twenty-ninth century and move through time trying to stop the Korin who are a society of rich men who use their power to take what they want, kill recklessly, and change history in the process. The Borka are heroes for the common people, revered for their willingness to put their lives on the line protecting them. Every time the Borka time-travel, they face the threat of both the Korin and the damage to their bodies that time traveling can do. This is Daken’s last mission, as next up is retirement and marriage to a submissive, petite, twenty-ninth century woman. But when Jenny, a beautiful, spitfire woman is saved by his team from what should have been her death, the timeline has been changed and decisions must be made. Can the team fulfill their mission and preserve the timeline? How can Daken look forward to being with a subservient woman when he finds himself irresistibly drawn to the determined Jenny?

With an interesting plot and lots of action, Time Thieves provides non-stop thrills. (yes, Yes, YES!!!!!, Brit says! Doing a happy dance!)

The strong men, and fiery women, fuzzy purple gargoyles, and talking swords who populate WARRIORS GONE WILD will entice you to forget your worries and enjoy the moment. The sex is hot, the locations interesting and the plots are surprisingly well developed for the length of the stories. WARRIORS GONE WILD is deserving of a place in your library.

4 Fallen Angels from Fallen Angel Reviews

Wild and Wanton

Federal agent Nick Coulter is undercover working as a bouncer at a strip club. He’s hoping to bust a ring of counterfeiters, but is completely distracted and aroused by the club’s latest dancer, Mandy Minx. He has to try to keep his mind on the job, but it’s getting harder and harder…

There’s more to Mandy than meets the eye, even as delicious as the package is. She’s complicated and, under it all, afraid. A Gypsy has given her a magic potion to help her begin to live again, but will it be enough?

Wild and Wanton by Brit Blaise is a book bursting with eroticism and with an underlying theme readers won’t soon forget. Mandy is a fascinating character, a woman trapped by her fear; Nick is a man devoted to his job, but one who has just been bowled over by the luscious Mandy. Without giving too much away, I’ll just say that there is a huge plot twist in this tale, and one that worked exceptionally well into the storyline. There was a bit too much plot here for the book’s length, but Ms. Blaise managed to tie it all up neatly at the end. Four Angels!
