Young Winifred lusts after her personal tutor, Charles Thomas. Ever since she watched him cavorting with the upstairs maid, Winifred can’t help but want Charles to teach her more than just reading and writing. With both of her parents dead, Winifred has no one to talk to about the intimacies between a man and woman. She has decided that Mr. Thomas will be the one to teach her about sexual desires.

Charles would love nothing more than to show Winifred about the pleasures of the flesh but he is not a normal man. He is known as a guardian who must watch over the high faery-in-waiting, which Winifred happens to be. As an invisible, a half-human, half-angel, his ultimate goal is to get into heaven, and Winifred may be the key to this because she has untapped powers that she is not aware of which can help him. But Charles cannot keep his body’s reaction to Winifred under control; even though it may not be right, he will tutor her in the ways she has been asking him.

Charles treats her with a gentle hand, but before they can go further in Winifred’s instructions, her cousin Elliott comes asking for her hand in marriage. But Elliott also has a secret; he is barely human and as close to evil as one can be. Charles must protect Winifred from her greedy cousin and still find the time to complete their intimate lessons. But as more evil starts to stalk Winifred, she begins to realize how powerful she really is and how her feelings for Charles have grown.

There is a little bit of everything in A LADY’S LESSONS, from some heated love scenes, a willful heroine and a hero who are at odds about what is right and whether Charles should act on his desires regardless of the consequences. I found Charles to be a hero very worthy of Winifred’s love, and I wanted to applaud her for her honesty and gumption.
