Glendale Chocolate Affaire

Chocolate and Romance…Can life get any better?

For the past few weeks I’ve been using my Sunday slot to blog about my goals and progress. Well, not much to update this week so I thought I’d let you know about an upcoming event you might be interested in.
Every year on the first weekend in February a large group of romance authors participate in the annual Glendale Chocolate Affaire. This is the 12th year and the event is noted as one of the best chocolate festivals in the U.S. So, for 1 weekend a year, Murphy Park, in downtown Glendale, AZ. gets transformed into a chocolate decadent wonderland.
This year the event has been shortened by 1 day because the Superbowl will be in town the same weekend. (Not looking forward to the traffic!) But nonetheless, myself and 26 other romance authors will be under the canopy on Friday the 1st, and Saturday the 2nd, in front of the Glendale Civic Center Plaza sharing our tales of love with the world.
A new twist has been added to the mix. The PR department at the City of Glendale thought it would be a great idea to get a male cover model to do some appearances throughout the event. So I contacted the few “names” I know in the industry and one came through! Thank you, Jennifer Ashley for getting me in contact with cover model, CJ Hollenbach.
I’ve been chatting online with CJ for the past couple of days and he is now in contract negotiations with the City of Glendale. Keep your fingers crossed and send positive energy out to make this happen.
We have a great line up of authors in attendance again this year. I’ll post another update closer to the event with complete listings but, if you find yourself in Glendale, AZ during the first weekend in February stop by and say hi. Grab a book or two, or three and have them autographed by the author. Did I forget the chocolate? Simply sinful. Chocolate dipped cheesecake, chocolate or caramel apples, the list goes on and on. For more details on the chocolate vendor who started this event you can visit their site at: Cerreta Candy Co.
That’s all I’ve got at the moment.
If you’re in the area, stop by and say hello. You can never tell what the conversation may entail. With 20+ romance authors? Usually pretty interesting.
Take care all.
Cheers,
Kayla

Age old question - Who’s more powerful - Werewolf or Vampire?

I’ve had this debate with friends about the age old question, who is more powerful Bewitch or I Dream of Jeannie? Update it to the 21st Century and now it’s Werewolf or Vampire. Who is more powerful? If you wrote a novel like Otherworld and had two fighting species who would be more powerful, more sensual, more alpha in your world?

Comparison:

Weakness - Werewolf ruled by the cycle of the moon, Vampire ruled by the cycle of the Sun. — Equal or, is the Werewolf more powerful because he only has 3 days of weakness, once a month versus every day

Strength - Both have exceptional power —- Equal Or does the Vampire win because he can mesmorize you with his eyes and voice

Sex - Werewolf will eat you if they are in monster form, Vampire can have sex and take blood at the same time — point for Vampire

Love - both can love with their human side - Equal But which one exudes the powerful sensuality that will make your knees weak

Age - Werewolfs, I believe, live long but Vampires live longer —- point for Vampire

Body - Werewolf has the muscle physic of a predator and sensuality of a true alpha male, but has one draw back - HAIRY, Vampire has the human body he had before he became the undead but gains the sensuality of an alpha male —- Equal, Or, is the thought of hairy versus wimpy human come into play

So far in my book the Vampire wins. What am I missing? Who do you think is more powerful? In a world you would create who would you choose to be your hero? Isabella

PS… I always thought Bewitch was more powerful

New Sale

Hi Everyone. I thought I’d better check in and say “hi” since I’ve been MIA for so long. I do have an excuse, sorta, I sold a book to The Wild Rose Press. This one will be in their Faery Rose line and will eventually go to print. My first print book. I’m thrilled to be able to say that. And, we have almost finsihed our next story to submit. This one will also go to The Wild Rose Press Faery Rose line and, hopefully, they will like it enough to buy.

I have a few goals for the new Year. Of course the usual lose weight. Hopefully, I can stick to it this year. I know I’d feel better if I do. I’ve been feeling tired and cranky and I know it has a lot to do with my diet and lack of exercise. I’m trying to work on that. And it’s hard.

Another goal is to submit more often. I’m going for the once a month. I’d like to say more, but I know I’d just be setting myself up to fail. I’m not a very fast writer and this year will be a busy one for us BMG’s anyway, what with the Chocolate Affair, Desert Dreams and RT not to mention RWA too, which I haven’t decided if I’m going to attend or not. We have a family vacation planned for sometime in July. We are taking the new grandbaby to New York to see all my husband’s family. I say sometime because since it’s not even here yet, we can’t make firm reservations. We’ll just play it by ear and assume the baby will arrive when it’s suppossed to in late May and go from there. Meanwhile I’ll continue getting my house ready for a new little Petrone. Exciting times. 2008 is going to be a good year for me. Anybody else have some exciting news?

It’s here!

And I received my first fan-email about it already!

Progress Report

Okay, I posted my goals and wanted to give an update on my progress.
I’ve lost 3.5 lbs and dropped 2% body fat. I started working out with a trainer and while it’s painful as hell I know the end result will be worth it. While some of my friends lovingly call me “skinny bitch” and I appreciate the compliment, I’m not as skinny as they would believe. Heart disease runs high in my family, this is not a risk I’m happy to live with so I need to do something about it.
One of my other goals was to submit 3 proposals a month. I am currently working on polishing the first 3 chapters of the novel I am going to submit. If all goes well they will be in the mail in about a week. Wish me luck! I’ll need it.
My third goal is to finish 2 manuscripts a year. This like the others is an ongoing project. Stay tuned for future updates.
